NEET PG 2023 preparation - How to start? What are the Points you must follow?

The biggest part in everyone's life after joining MBBS is the collection of information that can make you a Clinician with all the knowledge to diagnose a disease or abnormality and a Surgeon with all the skills to benefit the wounded. Apart from these two goals the major part which is going in like a race is the preparation for the common entrance examination. This has become more essential and a necessary part of medico's life rather than the other two which were the major goals earlier. So let's go into the details to make a path into the succes of this race.

If you are a medical student in your 2nd, 3rd or Final year of your MBBS.

‌-> You must be focused on improving your clinical skills taught to you live in the clinics along with the theory knowledge from the standard textbooks. With these two basic must do works you can conquer the other in ease. 
-‌> If you feel you are very much thorough with the concepts taught in your classes, you can stick to that teaching and notes. 
-> But if you are unable to gather concepts in your classroom, you must refer to other source. Video lectures are available in various sources with good explanations. You must follow one of those to build your concepts.
-> And the last thing is to try doing MCQs whenever you are free and whenever you complete learning a concept. Look for the explanation of every choice in the MCQ and gather all the knowledge regarding that concept. 
-> Building concepts and Attempting MCQ is the main objective.
Following these points regularly and without letting yourself dump into laziness can make you a ranker in the entrance test. 

If you are an Intern

-> ‌Attend your clinics and learn every detail of the signs and symptoms, presentations and treatment protocol of each case you see in the clinics. 
-> Watch the video lectures or Just read the notes of each case you encounter in your clinics everyday. Try building each and every concept around that case or disease.
-> ‌Try to solve different MCQ and tests related to those topics or subjects and collect as much information as you can regarding that topic.
-> ‌Building concepts and Attempting MCQ is the main objective.

If you are Post-Intern

-> Stop going through the standard textbooks, refer more to the video lectures and notes from the experienced faculty. 
-> You should complete attending video lectures or live classes within 6months in maximum. You must read the notes inbetween, after completing video lecture of every subject before going to a new one.
-> Build your concepts and revise them thoroughly untill you are strong in them. 
-> ‌Attempt as many test and MCQ that are available for you and get explanation to every single MCQ and every single choice in that MCQ. 
-> ‌Revision and Tests (MCQs) is the main objective.

Coming to the subjects:

Anatomy, Radiology and Dermatology: These are more of diagramatic or pictorial way of learning. So try to go through the images including Histology, cadaveric images, radiographs, case images and mainly images of nerve and blood supply of different body parts. 
Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Anaesthesia: These are more of a memory topics with few concepts. First you have to be thorough with the concepts of each process and metabolic pathway or drug related pathway and then start revising it more and more, atleast one hour in every two days regularly. Need lots and lots of revision.
Physiology, Microbiology and Pathology: They are balanced with concepts, images and memory topics equally that are very important for the entrance. You have to read twice and thrice until you get involved in these concepts and then start revising the terms and conditions in them. Need more revision along with MCQ. 
Opthalmology, ENT and Orthopedics: These subjects are dealt in a clinical way with images and memorizing terms. They focus on trauma, infections, genetic diseases and tumors and the general terms involving these topics. Need more MCQ rather than revision. 
FMT and PSM: These subjects are more based on latest recommendations and implementations that are introduced. They deal with memory topics, methods, rules and calculations. Attempting more MCQ is the only objective in these subjects.
Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery, Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynecology: These are the clinical subjects where you have to learn each and every detail that can point us towards the diagnosis of a disease and it's management. You have to be thorough with the differential diagnosis and various steps and modalities of management of each disease. Need to get more grip in the differentiation diagnosis and management.

The more exposure you get with different types of MCQs, the more you gain knowledge and confidence in a particular concept. So never ignore Attempting the tests and immediately looking for the explanations after completing the test. Plan by making a schedule and follow that without letting yourself out of it.
